The Clay Guide

How to Use Clay Internally

Health library / The Clay Guide

This guide borrows from many experts and attempts to make this complex topic as simple as possible. Clay is truly very easy and very powerful; however, it is also very complex and offers a wide range of protocols and concoctions.

If you experience uncomfortable effects from taking clay:

Crystals, wands, special flasks, etc. are great for structuring distilled water before you add the clay.

Preparing Clay for Drinking

The night before use, mix one teaspoonful (5ml, 5 grams) of clay in 500ml (2 cups) of water.

Start with half a teaspoon in a glass of water (200-250ml). The ratio (about 100:1) is critical, not the volume consumed.

Let the Clay Breathe!

Keep the lid loosely covered on your hydrated clay. Do NOT do this with clay powder – that should always be kept air tight.

Drink the Clay!

1

Shake Well

First thing in the morning, shake the container well once again.

2

Let it Settle

Allow the clay to sit for a few minutes.

3

Drink

Drink all (500ml!) of the clay water, leaving any sediment at the bottom. Different clays have different amounts of grit. Drinking sediment won't cause harm, but most prefer just the clay water. Save pasty sediment for topical use or a mask.

4

Build Up

Can you drink 500ml (2 cups)? Drinking lots of water when you first get up is good for you. If you cannot drink 2 cups, drink what you can and build up eventually. The important thing is to get started and be consistent.

5

Daily for 10 Days

Drink clay in this manner daily for ten days or so. After that your body should be adapted, and you can begin to increase the amount.

ONE HOUR BEFORE FOOD: Try to wait one hour before eating breakfast. This gives the clay time for therapeutic action and allows your stomach to prepare for food.

TWO HOURS BEFORE MEDS: Two hours is a better buffer than one for separating clay from pharmaceuticals. It can also be better to take clay two hours after meds. Research your specific medication.

By taking clay first thing in the morning, clay particles will be present during the first bile dump that occurs with breakfast. There will be more heavy metals released via bile in the morning compared to later, so it's great to have clay there to capture them and prevent reabsorption.

Phase II: Increasing Clay Consumption

Once your body is comfortable with hydrated clay (a teaspoonful in 500ml of water) for at least ten days straight, you can move on to higher amounts.

For some people, simply taking one teaspoonful of hydrated clay is enough, even if only 3-4 times per week. It will resolve many issues and is great to keep in your routine permanently.

Step 1: Increase Frequency

Take clay at BOTH morning (at least one hour before breakfast) and at night (at least one hour after your last meal).

That's one liter (4 cups) of water that weren't previously in your routine. The important point is the ratio of clay and water – this empowers the clay and protects from dehydration.

Step 2: Add Third Dose

Add a 3rd dose in the afternoon, before lunch or between lunch and dinner. Adjust the actual amount to fit your personal capacity.

Step 3: Increase Amount Per Dose

Mix one tablespoon (15ml) per 500ml of clay. This is tripling the amount, so step up slowly:

  1. Start with a tablespoonful in the morning dose
  2. Increase to tablespoonful twice daily
  3. Increase tablespoonful to three times daily

Take a holistic approach and use other tools along with clay, as we do in the Vitagenics Protocol.

For Food Intolerances

If you're having trouble tolerating certain foods, you can consume your clay near or with your food. This is an ancient practice that many people used to help keep them safe from questionable food sources, as the clay helps to detox the food.

You can use hydrated clay simultaneously for both therapeutic use (away from meals) and to help with food intolerances – meaning you might drink clay as often as six times a day. Just save some to drink with your meals. Listen to your body and adjust as needed.
